What is Open Burning?
Do you know what open burning is? Open burning is any open flame exposed to the environment, where pollutants produced from the fire are emitted directly into the surrounding air. This includes the burning of leaves, wood and trash. Open burning is a very common, yet very unhealthy method of garbage disposal.
Open burning can happen two different ways. The first is to have a pile of trash burning directly on the ground, and the second is to use a burn barrel. Many open burning fires take place in burn barrels. These are metal containers with holes cut in the bottom of them. Either method of open burning is dangerous and unhealthy.
