What can my family do with trash?
Compost
Composting is a great way to reuse your yard and kitchen waste. Placed in the right conditions, your left over food scraps and lawn clippings can become a wonderful nutrient rich soil for your garden. There is even a way to compost with worms! It’s called vermicomposting. Creepy crawly worms can help compost your family’s food scraps quicker then ordinary composting. Worms can live happily in a compost bin for a long time. They will reproduce themselves to fill up the bin, and make you great compost!
To learn more about composting or vermicomposting, check out some books from your school or local library. You can also learn more, and learn how to make your own compost bin on EEK’s Web site. Composting and vermicomposting are another way to recycle waste rather then burning it.
