Air Defenders Privacy Policy 

Air Defenders respects your privacy. We do collect information from you, but it is our policy and priority to ensure that all personal information remains private and secure.

1. General
To protect your privacy, Air Defenders:

a. Provides a privacy notice and/or a link to this Privacy Policy on all pages that ask for personal information;
b. Will not release personal identifying information about you without first obtaining consent; and
c. Will not knowingly collect or use personally identifying information from children younger than 13 without parental consent

2. Basic Information
When you visit the Air Defenders Web site, we may collect some basic information about your computer, including:

a. IP address (i.e., your computer's unique identification number)
b. Operating system (e.g., Windows, Linux)
c. Browser software (e.g., Netscape Navigator, MS Internet Explorer, Opera)
d. Internet Service Provider (e.g., Prodigy, NetZero, Juno)
e. Geographic location (e.g., Philadelphia, PA; Tokyo, Japan)

The information we collect reflects the population as a whole rather than individuals, and is used to help us better understand the people who visit Air Defenders. This information helps us identify the most popular pages on the Air Defenders' Web site and evaluate the effectiveness of Air Defenders' educational resources. For the same purposes, we may use cookies - text files placed on your computer's hard drive to collect and store the information listed above - to help us learn which Air Defenders pages are more or less popular, which types of content our visitors prefer, and the length of time they tend to spend at Web sites such as Air Defenders.

3. E-mail
We do collect the e-mail addresses of people who communicate with us via e-mail to respond to these communications. We may archive messages for quality assurance purposes.

4. Personal Information
When you submit data to Air Defenders, we collect personally identifying information from you, which may include the following:

a. First and last name;
b. Age
c. City, state, and country;
d. E-mail address;
e. Name of your school and possibly the name of your teacher

We collect this information for publishing consideration. We give notice at each location that asks for personal information, and such information will be used only for the purposes stated at the location of the collection and/or within this Privacy Statement.

We send member account passwords only to the e-mail address given during the registration process. All registrants receive e-mail confirming their Registration. NEVER GIVE YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYONE. If someone claiming to represent Air Defenders in an e-mail or forum asks for your Air Defenders password, DO NOT RESPOND. The only time we ask for your password is when you need to access to the Air Defenders system.

Air Defenders cooperates with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use Air Defenders services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to release information about members who we believe are in violation of Air Defenders's content guidelines, even without a subpoena, warrant or court order. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we reasonably believe to be unlawful. We save your personal information indefinitely since we may need to contact you in the event we want your permission to publish your work in the future. If you would like us to remove you from that list, please contact us using the information on the Contact Us page. We maintain information on members who have been removed for violating Air Defenders' content guidelines in order to identify repeat offenders.

5. Policies for Individuals Under 13
No information should be submitted to the Air Defenders web site by children without the consent of their parent or guardian. Air Defenders does not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children under age 13 without obtaining express parental consent via phone, fax, or postal mail.

Air Defenders encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the interactive activities offered on the sites. Air Defenders also encourages parents to teach children not to give out their names or other personal information, or fill out online registration forms without the parent's or guardian's knowledge and consent.

Note: Air Defenders defines "children" as minors younger than age 13.
